Well, it is that time of year again. The time of year when we reflect on life, business and goals we may or may not have accomplished.
Personally, I have reflected on my year and accomplishments and have fallen short in the writing department. (A quick look at my last blog entry will attest to this sad truth). I remain positive because although I did not write as much as I had wanted, I did, however, reach my health goals, most of my business goals and several personal things I needed to knock off my “to do” list in 2015. This leaves me asking myself, what do I want to achieve in the new year? Perhaps you have asked yourself the same thing. If you have not, no worries. This post is meant to make you do so! Albeit, there are many ways to reach your resolutions but here are my top 5.
- FOCUS.
It is easy to lose focus when there are so many distractions. Social media, personal problems, finances……SQUIRREL! Build a routine and stick to the formula and learn to focus on the present. Sometimes looking to the future can be overwhelming but when you focus on each day’s tasks, the future is in actuality a result of these daily actions.
2. WRITE IT DOWN.
Not only does this put it into the universe but it also is a great way to refocus. Look back and read what you wrote when you lose sight of your goals. Every goal is ultimately a business plan. YOUR business plan to success deserves an outline so put it to pen and paper.
3. WAKE UP EARLIER.
You know that feeling when you are first in line? Waking up earlier gives you a head start on your day. You have a little more time to accomplish a workout, cleaning, organizing, day planning…personal grooming… which in turn makes you have a little more pep in your step throughout the day. When you look amazing, you tend to stop into that store you have been shy of visiting. You will now run that errand where you know you will bump into a colleague whilst you are looking quite put together and this may lead to endless possibilities.
4. MAKE AN ASSESSMENT.
How will you know what you need if you do not know what you already have or don’t have? This could be a financial assessment or a personal assessment. For example: Did you waste $$$ on a membership you didn’t use all year? Did you have a lot of time taken up by an drama causing friend? Everyone and everything is under evaluation at this point, so don’t be afraid to cut bait.
5. TRAVEL.
We are renewed and exposed to new ideas and people when we travel. Put that out-of-town expo on your calendar, visit another city you have not been to. It is exciting! Traveling leaves you open to having some unique life experiences. It pushes you out of your comfort zone and forces you to think of new ways to do things. In discovering new horizons, you just may end up discovering quite a few things about yourself.
Cheers to the new year and getting ourselves on the right path to reaching our goals!
Merry Christmas everyone & have a Happy New Year,
Alicia
